JudgingFirst-Round Judges
The Codie Awards are judged in two rounds.

First Round Review:
November 2004 - January 2005

First round Codie Awards Judges are representatives from the software and information industry trade press, mainstream technology writers, analysts, consultants and subject-matter experts. Prospective first round judges must submit an application which is reviewed for relevant experience. The rankings of nominees by these judges determine the Codie Awards Finalists.

Procedure
It is the responsibility of each nominee to forward a copy of the product, any necessary access codes or other appropriate information to assigned judges by November 5, 2004.

Beta versions of software will not be accepted.

Gold masters are accepted but not recommended.

Judges are not required to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements.

Any of the following may be submitted to judges:

  • Full copy of nominated product (preferred for appropriate products)
  • Website URL and login information for online-only products
  • Self-running CD Demo
  • Self-running online demo access
  • Guided demos are acceptable only with the agreement of category judges and may not run longer than 30 minutes. (See Information on Guided Demos). It is highly recommended that you have a separate method of presenting your product to judges.
  • How to Create Online Demos that Technical Prospects Love - A Case Study from MarketingSherpa, Inc.

Second Round Voting:
SIIA Members Vote for the 2005 Codie Awards Winners

Online voting opens in April
Beginning in April 2005, SIIA voting members will have 30 days to review Codie Awards finalists in each category and select their choices online. Member companies are provided one vote per company in each Codie Awards category.

Procedure
Unlike the first round, the second round of the Codie Awards is not an intensive product review, as SIIA Members are invited to vote in all of the categories. It is recommended that you provide an online demo or product access to allow SIIA Members to become familiar with your product.

Campaigning for Second Round Votes
In order to prevent SIIA Members from being inundated with requests for votes, finalist promotion is limited to the SIIA-sponsored Finalist Review Program. Further details about the program will be provided when finalists are announced.

More information about the voting process will be available in the "Vote" section of this website after finalists are announced.

Winners announced May 25, 2005:
Online votes are Tallied and Winners are Announced at Codie Awards Gala

Winners will be determined from a combination of first round judges' rankings and SIIA Member votes. First round judge rankings will be weighted at 30% and SIIA Member votes will be weighted at 70%. Winners of the 2005 Codie Awards will be announced at a gala on May 25, 2005 at the Shereton Universal Hotel in Universal City, CA.
