How it All Works.
Nominations
Each product or service may be nominated in up to three categories. All products must launch or ship on or before October 11, 2007 to be eligible for the 2008 CODiE Awards.
If any information provided on the nomination form should change, it is the responsibility of the primary contact to notify Lisa Mitchell at lmitchell@siia.net. SIIA takes no responsibility for inaccurate information if not notified of changes.
SIIA reserves the right to cancel any CODiE Awards category with fewer than 10 nominations. If a category is cancelled, nominees in that category will have the option to move to another category or receive a full refund.
Payment
Pre-payment is required for all nominations. Payment is due to SIIA by November 12, 2007 (December 14 for corporate nominations), unless otherwise noted. If payment is not received by that date, the nominated product will not be considered for the 2008 CODiE Awards.
Cancellations
Cancellations before October 26, 2007 will receive a 100% refund.
Cancellations after October 26, 2007 will not be refunded unless the nomination category is deleted.
Judging Process (for more information please visit the Judging page)
The Codie Awards are judged in two rounds. First round Codie Awards Judges are representatives from the software and information industry trade press, mainstream technology writers, analysts, consultants and subject-matter experts. Judges submit an application which is reviewed for relevant experience. The rankings of nominees by first round judges determine the CODiE Awards Finalists.
The second round is a peer-review process in which SIIA member companies review the finalists and cast votes for winners in each category.
This year, a third round of voting has been instituted. This additional voting process will expand the voting pool and enable an SIIA member company attending any of any of the two SIIA spring conferences [Ed Tech Industry Summit and NetGain] to review the products and services voted as Finalists in person.
Winners will be determined from a combination of first round judge rankings and SIIA Member votes when all rounds of voting will be summed and weighted. First round judges receive a 50% weight, second and third round votes will be summed and also receive a 50% weight.
- First Round Judging
It is the responsibility of each nominee to promptly forward a copy of the product, any necessary access codes or other appropriate information to assigned judges by December 14, 2007.
Beta versions of software will not be accepted.
Gold masters are accepted, but not recommended.
Judges are not required to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements.
Any of the following may be submitted to judges:
- Full copy of nominated product (preferred for appropriate products)
- Website URL and login information for online-only products
- Self-running CD Demo
- Self-running online demo access
- Second Round Judging
Only active SIIA Members may vote in the second round of judging. Member companies are provided one vote per company in each CODiE Awards category. Voting is held securely online from March 10, 2008 - April 30, 2008.
Campaigning for Second Round Votes
In order to keep SIIA members from being inundated with campaign material, finalist promotion is limited to the SIIA-sponsored Finalist Review Program. The Finalist Review Program has two components. One will enable finalists to gain recognition on the SIIA website and in the CODiE edition of UPGRADE magazine. Further details about the Review program will be provided when finalists are announced. Any campaigning for votes outside of the SIIA-sponsored Finalist Review Program will result in disqualification and your product will be pulled from judging.
- Third Round Judging
New for 2008, finalists will have an opportunity to demonstrate their product(s) at a CODiE Finalist Showcase. Each member company attending any of the two SIIA spring conferences [Ed Tech industry Summit and NetGain] will receive one additional ballot to be completed onsite after reviewing the CODiEs' Finalist Showcase. The Showcase will be held on the evening of Monday, May 19 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. The new voting process for the Finalists will expand the voting pool and enable the attendees at the two conferences to review in person the products and services that are among the finalists.
