SIIA has been at the forefront of important initiatives affecting and advocating for the education technology and content provider community including:

• Passage of the "No Child Left Behind Act" to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), a $26 billion national program which provides the large majority of federal K-12 aid, including school-based education technology-related products and services

• Education & education technology funding at the Federal and state level

• Distance education student aid reform and other higher education and distance education regulations and program initiatives

• Government's role in and regulations impacting education technology, including R&D, accessibility, product clearinghouses and evaluations and competition

• Legislative initiatives to help address the information technology worker shortage
