Much of the discussion for on demand software has been focused on enterprise applications while the $9bn+ systems management market has remained largely focused on traditional enterprise licensed software. Is systems management ready for the SaaS model and will SaaS work for managing IT infrastructures such as networks and storage? Are there advantages that SaaS can bring to systems management that cannot be met by traditional software models? What areas of systems management are likely to see acceptance of on demand software and can on demand software ever be robust enough to manage the end-to-end complexities of an entire IT infrastructure stack?
